Embrace Your Journey: Reflections on the 2025 Calendar, The Best Is Yet to Come!

Starting a new year often brings a mix of hope and uncertainty. Many of us look for ways to stay motivated and grounded as we navigate daily challenges. 2025's13-month wellness calendar offers a unique approach by combining affirmations and now music, powerful tools to help you embrace your journey with confidence and joy.

In this blog series, we will explore how affirmations can shape your mindset, how music enhances their impact, and practical ways to incorporate both into your daily routine. By the end, you’ll have clear steps to make 2026 a year of growth and well-being.

The affirmation “The best is yet to come” reminds you to stay open to future possibilities, even when current circumstances feel tough. This mindset encourages patience and perseverance, which are essential for long-term wellness.

Why Affirmations Work

  • They shift focus from problems to possibilities.

  • They build self-confidence by reinforcing positive beliefs.

  • They reduce stress by calming negative self-talk.

  • They encourage action by inspiring motivation.

Using affirmations daily can create a ripple effect, improving your mental and emotional health over time.

How Music Enhances Affirmations

Music has a unique ability to influence emotions and memory. When paired with affirmations, it can deepen their impact by engaging multiple senses. Listening to music while repeating affirmations helps anchor positive messages in your mind.

Research shows that music can:

  • Lower cortisol levels, reducing stress.

  • Boost dopamine, increasing feelings of happiness.

  • Improve focus and concentration.

  • Enhance memory retention.

Choosing music that resonates with you personally makes the experience more meaningful. Whether it’s calming instrumental tunes or upbeat rhythms, the right soundtrack can make affirmations feel more alive.

Practical Ways to Use Affirmations and Music Together

Incorporating affirmations and music into your daily life doesn’t require a big time commitment. Here are some practical ideas to get started:

Morning Ritual

  • Choose an affirmation.

  • Select a song that makes you feel energized or calm.

  • Play the music softly while repeating the affirmation aloud or silently.

  • Take a few deep breaths and visualize the affirmation becoming true.

This sets a positive tone for the day and helps you focus on your goals.

During Breaks

  • Use short breaks to listen to a favorite uplifting song.

  • Repeat a quick affirmation like “I am capable” or “I embrace change.”

  • This can refresh your mind and reduce stress during busy moments.

Before Sleep

  • Play gentle, soothing music.

  • Whisper or think affirmations related to peace and gratitude.

  • This practice can improve sleep quality and promote relaxation.

Journaling with Music

  • Write down your daily affirmation in a journal.

  • Play instrumental music in the background.

  • Reflect on how the affirmation applies to your current experiences.

Journaling helps deepen your connection to the affirmations and track your progress.

January 2025, Protect Your Peace

January's photo is of the waters in the Semana Region of the Dominican Republic, with stunning cliffs and mountains off in the distance. The only other place to date that had beautiful natural landscapes which I had visited was Hawaii. Yet, the Dominican Republic took my breath away, in how magnificent, voluminous, huge the natural landscape was. It reminded me of how small we are as humans, and how powerful God is to have created such masterpieces in which we can rest, enjoy, yet also take care of. From the sunsets, cloudy days, rainstorms, and yes the wonderful humidity (me being sarcastic), were as thoughtfully made as much as the ocean was deep. Even the animal and nature sounds had their own place. Almost everyday and as often as I could, I was in the water swimming, wading, and enjoying the waves and marine life that call it home. Sometimes, I'd allow bigger waves to gently lift my feet off the sandy floor and carry me a few inches over, while trying to stay safe. I looked as far as my human eyes could see in every direction, as though I could possibly see what was beyond the horizon so far away.

Beauty in such vastness and there I was, a little pea. And as careful as God was in creating each of those aspects, it's in that stillness of life that calls us to protect our peace. Protect our core and our very being. From so much extra. Protecting our minds that often roam too far and take in too much; protecting time way to precious to waste; protecting energy we give scrambling to every thing only to be drained later. There is power in just standing still in the moment. Power in saying no. Power in forgiving. Power in being present and just breathing. So you can focus on what matters and be your best.

Where is that place in your life where you can go to be still? To tune out the extraness of life and business of the everyday? Can you imagine how much better you can feel by carving out time for self? What steps do you need to take and how often? Because your peace is yours to protect, not for others to run! How are you protecting it?

Do you have a song or songs that bring about peace? Everyone's needs are different. For some, soft strings or slow piano music are soothing and calming. Chopin's Nocturne Opus 9 No. 2 and Piano Concerto No. 1 in e minor are nice. My Meditation piece for chamber strings plays on a loop on my website. For others, steady, uplifting reggae music or African beats and harmonies center you. Sirius Music has the Watercolors and Real Jazz channels, amongst others that can set the mood. Have you ever noticed that when baseball players step up to bat, a specific song is played? Music sets the tone. Be intentional. Keep your favorites handy to play right when needed, as you stay centered and at peace. What are your go-to songs?

Here's to a vibrant 2026! Stay tuned for February!
